Trula Mae Gibson Thornton
09/26/1932 - 07/21/2025
Trula Mae Thornton (nee Gibson) of Covington joined the lord on 07/21/2025 after a short stay in hospice.
She was born to the late Wesley Gibson and Adina Coffey Gibson on 09/26/1932 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Trula celebrated 60 years of marriage to Peter Sidney Thornton before his death in 2014. Together they raised four boys.
She was a member of the OES and served as Grand Matron and Worthy Grand Matron. Trula never knew a stranger especially if they needed help and spent many years volunteering in the school system when her children were younger.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Peter, sons Reed and Jeffrey, grandson Anthony and great grandson Harlan.
She is survived by her sons Peter M. Thornton of Covington and Allen W. Thornton (Shelby) of Taylor Mill, grandsons Allen Thornton (Erin) of Marietta, GA, Scott Thornton of Taylor Mill, Winston Thornton (Aliyha) of Taylor Mill, Nicholas Thornton of Taylor Mill and Jeff Back (Miranda) of Wichita Falls, Tx ; grand daughters Brittney Cecil (Scott) of Louisville, Sarah Goodon (Josh) of Sikeston, MO and Shana Thornton of Latonia Lakes. Also surviving are great grand children: Carter, Zander, Luke, Brady, Cameron, Maximus, Aurora, Wrenley, Lily, Alex, Emma, Lexi, Joshua, Conner, Lyla, Tiberius and Liam.
Additionally, she is preceded in death by sisters Edna Garrett and Betty Drew and brother James Gibson as well as surviving siblings Donahue Gibson Sr, Hobert Gibson and Delia Thomas all of Indiana.
Service and burial by Don Catchen Funeral Home at on Friday, 7/25/25 at 3 pm.
