Turon Patterson, 61, passed away on Monday, July 14th, 2025. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, August 22nd, 2025, at 11 am at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Turon Patterson, Lubbock, TX native, was a star basketball player at Dunbar High School. He came from a large, loving family with 9 siblings and many cousins. Turon served as a combat medic in the United States Air Force, retiring with honor after 20 years of service. He made many sacrifices in his life to support not only his country, but also his family. One of many examples is when he declined an MLB contract to better support his family with medical resources available from the military during a time of strife. Turon was an intelligent, strong, and driven man. Many will remember him as stern, yet supportive figure in their lives that never did anything small. From grilling at BBQs, to cheering in the crowd at his children’s sporting events, to just chatting while he leaned back in his recliner,
Turon’s presence was heard, felt, and loved. Turon was a God-fearing man who will be remembered, and missed, by many.
Turon is preceded in death by his father Lester Patterson, his mother Ola Mae Patterson, and his two sisters.
Turon leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughters Qrysta Patterson and Quiarra Patterson, his sons Quinten Patterson and Quincey Patterson, his sisters Sharon Christian, Jeanine Williams, and Zenobia Donelson, his brothers Michael Patterson, Lester Patterson, Calvin Patterson, and Andre Patterson, his grandchildren Ivy Patterson, Imanie Patterson, and Q’yng Patterson, and a host of many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
