Glen T. "Ty" Gibbins, beloved for his infectious humor, warm smile, and selfless heart, passed away peacefully from Lewy Body Dementia on August 1, 2025, at his home in
Corpus Christi, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 23, 1954, in Hobbs, New Mexico, Ty's life was a testament to joy, compassion, and unwavering devotion to those around him.
He graduated from Mary Carroll High School and continued his education at Texas State University. His professional journey began in the oil industry, where he worked as a drilling foreman for ConocoPhillips from 1977 to 1989. In 1990, Ty embarked on a new chapter as an Independent Catastrophe Adjuster - a role he embraced with dedication and integrity until his retirement in 2017. Beyond his professional achievements, Ty pursued a wide array of passions. A devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns, and Houston Astros, he never missed a game - often accompanied by a quick-witted remark and playful banter shared with family. He found both peace and adventure in the great outdoors, enjoying the thrill of motorcycles, hiking, boating, and fishing. Above all, Ty cherished time with his grandchildren, always cheering them on from the sidelines during their sports and activities.
Family was at the heart of Ty's life. Alongside his wife, Gigi Armstrong, he built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and countless treasured memories. Ty was a devoted brother to Cindy Levin and the late Molly Hubbard, a proud uncle to Crystal Holmes and William DuPont IV, and a loving stepfather to William Armstrong, Camille and Bryan Meek, Lisa and Ferlein Renteria, and Jack Armstrong. Among his greatest joys was being a grandpa to Ava Armstrong, Isabel Renteria, and Conor and Corinne Meek. He was deeply cherished by his mother-in-law, Barbara Byrum, and with his quick wit, became a natural part of the Ryan family, who will always hold a special place for him in their hearts.
Those who knew Ty would describe him as the epitome of kindness, always ready with a joke to brighten someone's day and a friendly word for everyone he met. His presence brought joy, and his absence will be deeply felt. His soul lives on forever, carried in the hearts of all who knew him.
