August 14, 1947 – August 6, 2025

Tyrone Earl McIntyre, born in Cleveland, Ohio, was the son of Arie Lavora McIntyre (nee Griffin) and Herbert Alvin McIntyre. He is the oldest of their four children.

Tyrone had a wonderful childhood growing up in Cleveland, Ohio with both siblings and close cousins in a large family that valued connectedness. These core values of family and connectedness (especially in friendship) became important to him and were guiding lights for him all his life. His mother, Arie, better known as Pepe, was an RN with Case Western Reserve - University Hospital, and his father, a native Clevelander, flew missions in WWII as a Tuskegee Airman, retiring from the US Postal Service. They instilled in him to be self-sufficient and to take care of his younger siblings.

He followed his father into military service in the Air Force with a commendation and honorable discharge. While serving, he was stationed in Madrid, Spain at Torrejon Air base. Madrid is where he met Marvelle, who was studying on foreign exchange. She became his wife in 1970, and his daughter, Monique, was born in 1971. They began their new life and family together in Washington, DC. As a young man, he attended John Adams High School in Cleveland, and Howard University, majoring in Architecture, in DC. Although their marriage ended in divorce, Ty remained in the city he loved, Washington, to stay near his daughter and do what he loved - working in and procuring real estate.

Eventually, he returned to his hometown, Cleveland. In 1981 he began work for the US Postal Service and retired after over two decades of service. He was known for his gregarious nature, his laugh, his joy and his warm smiles that he shared bountifully. He was also know for his generous spirit, giving gifts to his family and friends for no particular occasion. Ty always offered assistance to family, friends, and neighbors in every conceivable way. For over 7 years he was a resident at St. Luke's Manor (originally the hospital where he was born) where the other residents became fast friends with him. Ty was a good friend to many, and a popular figure wherever he went. His family had many nicknames for each other, and his unique ones were known by many, especially those who knew him best: Tycoon, Ty, Earl, and more.

He is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Renée McIntyre.

Tyrone is survived by his daughter Monique McIntyre of Miami, Florida, his sister Rita McIntyre of Las Vegas, and his brother Gary McIntyre of Henderson, both of Nevada, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, close cousins and friends.
