Davis – Vada Mae Davis, age 82, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, at Community Hospice Morris Center for Caring. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida on September 27, 1942, to the late Will Ocie Ellison and Maebelle Corbin Ellison. Vada was a lifelong resident of Duval County. She attended Robert E. Lee High School and later furthered her education at Florida Community College of Jacksonville. She had a successful career in Bookkeeping and served 27 years at Landstar as an Insurance Qualification Specialist. Vada was a woman of deep faith and devoted member at Evangel Temple Assembly of God. Her love for Jesus Christ and love for her family were evident in all that she did. She thoroughly enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, playing bingo at the Marietta Senior Center, enjoying a game of cards or playing solitaire, cheering for the Florida Gators, watching her favorite television shows- Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, The Andy Griffin Show, and any and all black and white classics. Vada never turned down a trip to Hardees or Popeyes especially when she had the chance to go with family. Sharing a meal was more than just a treat; it was time spent with people she loved most. Vada was a true servant at heart. She gave generously to those in need, whether it was a warm meal, listening ear or a helping hand, she lived her life as a blessing to others, always putting love into action. More than anything, Vada treasured time with her family and cherished every moment she was given. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Vada was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gloria Reece; brothers, Junior Simpson and Rocky Ellison; son-in-law, Randall Pitts; and brother-in-law, Phillip Richardson.

Vada is survived by her daughters, Kelley (Brian) Dix of Winston Salem, NC and Kimberly Davis of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Lamar (Jeanie) Ellison and Curtis (Cindy) Ellison both of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Catherine (Harry) Baity of Palm Coast, FL, Myrtice Ellison and Faye Richardson both of Jacksonville, FL; brother-in-law, CJ Reece; granddaughter, Hallie Hand; great grandchildren, Peyton, Nyla, Addalynne, Journey, MacKenzie, and Brooklyn; along with several extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Vada's Life will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 11:00 am at Evangel Temple Assembly of God with Pastor Rick Dougherty officiating. Interment will follow at Manning Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 – 11:00 am at her church. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Ferreira Funeral Services, 1320 Chaffee Road South, Jacksonville, FL, 32221, 904-378-7777.
