Dawn Piner Hardesty, 81, of Davis, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home in Mill Creek on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
Due to inclement weather, the service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 21st at Reece's Chapel Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. James Chadwick. Dawn will be laid to rest privately at the Oscar Davis Memorial Cemetery in Davis. The family will receive friends the evening prior from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, August 20th at Reece’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Born on April 27, 1944, in Sea Level, North Carolina, Dawn was the beloved daughter of the late Jesse and Thelma Piner of Davis, North Carolina. A dedicated Christian woman, Dawn carried the love of the Lord in her heart, sharing it with those around her through her active involvement at Reece’s Chapel Baptist Church. Her love for the Word of God was evident in her role as a Sunday School teacher and Dawn lifted spirits with her beautiful voice, often performing solo specials.
Dawn especially enjoyed being near the water, a place where she felt truly at home. Her creative spirit was seen through various craft projects, each piece lovingly made with care and imagination.
Dawn will be remembered as a loving wife, caring sister, devoted mother, and proud grandmother whose unwavering faith and kindness will be deeply missed by those who loved her.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 35 years, Marvin Cecil Hardesty Jr.; daughters, Tara Morton (Mark) of Morehead City, NC and Amanda Thorpe (David) of Newport, NC; sons, Jeremy Asdenti (Erika) and Jason Asdenti, all of Morehead City, NC; sister, Candy Piner Kleiman (Sam) of Oriental, NC; grandchildren, Domenick Asdenti, Tristan Bowen, Jasmine Call, Brayden Call, Tyler Thorpe, Hudson Thorpe, Ashley Barnes, Emilie Morton, and Brooklyn Morton; and great-grandchildren, Mei Barnes and Levi Barnes.
In addition to her parents, Dawn was preceded in death by her brother, Doran Gray Piner and granddaughter, Trinity Bowen.
