Mrs. Valentina Mantyka, formerly of Glen Spey for 36 years, died Tuesday, August 27, 2024 in Massachusetts. She was 101.
She was born on November 16, 1922 in Poland, the daughter of the late Alexander Biletzka and the late Krystyna Wisniewska Biletzka. Wife of the late Walter Mantyka.
Valentina and Walter fled communist Soviet Union in 1943 and immigrated to the United States in 1947, where they settled in Queens, New York.
She worked as a medical technologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York for more than 25 years.
Valentina was a devoted member of the St. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Glen Spey, where she served as the secretary, A proud member of the parish sisterhood, where she enjoyed cooking for the parishioners and her family and sang in the choir.
She is survived by her daughters. Sophia Hansen and Lydia Falco and her husband Vincent Falco. She was also Babi to her much loved grandchildren, Kristina Rueda, Paul Hansen, Teresa Falco and her husband John Towle, Laura Hansen and her husband Matthew Kohler and Kathryn Falco and her fiance Brendan Cahill. She was also a Great Grandmother to John Vincent (JJ) Towle.
Funeral services were held on Friday, August 30, 2024 at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Memorial Church in South Boundbrook, NJ. Burial was held at St. Andrew's Cemetery, So. Bound Brook, NJ.
