Valerie L. Confer

Valerie L. Confer, age 35, of Kronenwetter, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 22, 2025. Val was born on April 14, 1990, in Rhinelander, WI.

Val graduated from Tomahawk High School in 2008 and worked for many years in the food service industry before moving on to the accounting department of Graebel. Most recently, she worked as an account specialist with Marathon County Social Services.

In 2006, Val took a mission trip to Kenya, Africa, which changed her life. She returned to Kenya as a volunteer many times, and in 2013, she formed her own non-profit organization, Tumaini Volunteers, to aid in the development of the underprivileged in Africa. Val brought so much joy to everyone she met, but mostly to the children living in poverty in Kenya. It was her second home, and she always looked forward to returning. Sadly, for nearly half of her short life, depression and alcohol dependence were demons which stalked her like a lion across the African plain. Behind her giving heart, beautiful smile, and infectious laugh, she was hunted by that lion.

Val is survived by her boyfriend, Troy Snell; her mother and stepfather, Chris (Jim "Himey") Kincaid; her father, Daniel Confer; her stepmother, Andrea Petersen; her brother, Nick (Jessica Powers) Confer; and her sisters, Hillary (Zachary Pickens) Copiskey and Elizabeth (Chad) Pingel. She is further survived by her grandparents, Bruce and Shirley Confer and Mary Beth and Chuck Teal, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and her faithful dogs, Buddy, Max, and Hudson. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Margaret and Paul Loehmer and Lloyd and Trink Kincaid; her aunt, Patti Loehmer; her special great-aunt, Helen Wanie; in addition to her misunderstood dog, Bleu.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM, at Generations Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.
