Valery Bienvenue Spiess

It is with great sadness that the family of Valery Bienvenue Spiess announce her passing on October 3, 2025 at the age of 90.

Valery was born in New Orleans. She lived in New Orleans, Metairie, and Mandeville.

She was a loving wife to the late Earl Spiess, Jr. They had three daughters, Earline Caruso (Steve), Darline LaFrance (Larry), and Sharline Spiess.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Florence Encardes Bienvenue, her beloved aunts Mildred Wilde (Harold) and Mae Lee. She will be joined in heaven with her beautiful granddaughters, Nicole D. Stevens and Nicole C. Smith.

She is survived by her grandchildren Stephanie (Tom), and Angelina and Steven Caruso (Leanne). Her great grandchildren Emma and Aubree Stevens, Luca Caruso, Jared Smith, and Madeline and Mckenzie Deibel. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren so much. They were her life; her pride and joy and we all live in her legacy.

She also loved her granddogs, Penny and Ozzie.

She gave us all so many memories to cherish forever. She knew how to have fun. One of her favorite things to do was to travel and talk on the phone with her cousin Haroleen West (Bill). They would enjoy talking about all of us and Haroleen's daughters Leah Dawsey (Pastor Michael), Lindy Chevalier (Andre), and their families.

She loved sharing memories with her lifelong friends whom she will also be meeting in heaven Mae Fleury, Annie Tesivich, and Tessie Slavich.

Services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA. Visitation for friends and family will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Cypress Grove.
