Van K. Hoang LeClair

Van K. Hoang LeClair, 78, of State College, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, at Mount Nittany Medical Center after a long and difficult battle with cancer.
She was born on June 21, 1946, in Ha Noi, Vietnam, to the late Hien Thi Nguyen and Mai Van Hoang. From an early age, Van exhibited a love of learning, which led her to pursue higher education in the Philippines. She graduated from Saint Paul's College in Manila with a Bachelor of Science in Business.
After completing her studies, Van returned to Vietnam, where she worked as a Correspondent for a Vietnamese newspaper. Her work reflected her deep care for her community, capturing the voices and stories of the people around her during a time of great change. Following the fall of Saigon, Van, along with her mother and brother, immigrated to the United States in search of peace and opportunity. They eventually settled in State College, Pennsylvania, where she built a new life.
Van worked as a dental assistant and an office manager, but her most treasured role was that of mother. She is survived by her four beloved children, whom she cherished deeply: Jennifer LeClair Cullers of Corry, PA; Andrew LeClair of State College, PA; Pierre LeClair and his wife, Abby of Spring Mills, PA; and Matthew LeClair and his fiancée, Megan Robert of State College, PA.
She is also survived by her loving brother, Tuong Manh Hoang, and his wife, Catherine; her nieces, Monique Nguyen and Francoise Hoang; and her six grandchildren: Maddelynn Cullers, Roland Cullers, Rhett Cullers, Hailey LeClair, Chase LeClair, and Silas LeClair. Van is also survived by many dear friends who were like family to her. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and members of her church community.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Our Lady of Victory Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, PA from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A funeral mass will be held directly following at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
