VANCE TERRAL HUNT (June 30, 1963 - April 20, 2021)

Vance Terral Hunt, 57, passed away on April 20, 2021 at Davis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family from a long, hard battle with liver failure and lengthy illnesses.

Vance was born on June 30,1963 in Cedar City, Utah to Normand and Marian Hunt. He was the second of 5 children and the only boy. He spent his youngest years growing up in Enterprise UT, where you often found him playing hard outside from sun up to sun down. If you couldn't find him, he was often gone to play with his best friend, Steven Hunt, many years his elder. They have remained great friends, Vance even naming his only son after him. He had a deep pride and love for this small town and family that live there.

The family moved to North Ogden in 1977 when Vance was in Junior High. Here is where he got deep into hunting, cars, and sports, mainly basketball. He also developed a love for scouting from Grandpa Martineau and became an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Weber High School and LDS Seminary in 1981.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served an eighteen-month mission in Halifax, Canada starting in 1982. He made deep connections with people there, still staying in touch with some until his final months. He had a very strong and deep testimony of the Church. This faith got him through some of the hardest times. He held many positions in the church throughout the years, one being 2nd counselor in the Bishopric in Roy. If you were friends with Vance on Facebook, you would find he posted quotes from Church leaders and positive things to help lift up others and spread good works of the Gospel.

On March 6,1986 he married the love of his life, Brenda Wagstaff. She has been his rock, partner, supporter, caregiver, and angel. Together they raised 3 wonderful children, now all grown and married, and have 7 grandchildren, with the 8th one joining us in May.

Vance was an avid hunter and an excellent shooter. More than hunting, he loved babies. So, he mixed his two loves together. One of first things he taught his kids and grandchildren is how to identify and make animal sounds. Before his kids could barely walk, he was taking them with him hunting and scouting, teaching them how to track animals and identify them. This created a great love and respect for the outdoors and wildlife in his kids. There are many fond memories of the family camping and spending time together outdoors. His proudest moments were getting "the big one" or watching his children do the same.

Vance had a great knowledge of many things and possessed many talents and hobbies. He had a tremendous knowledge of how to do and fix things, which he passed on to his children. He took pride in teaching his children how to do these things on their own, being as self-sufficient as possible. Vance was also a part of the HAM radio community, taking care of many radio towers throughout the state. He volunteered in Command Stations during disasters and emergency situations, using his talents with the radios. He was a vital part in communications during the Riverdale flood years ago. He also had a great love for country music and part of many fan clubs for many of the stars. One of his favorites was Martina McBride, in whom he met several times. Her song, "I'm gonna love you through it" got him through his battle with cancer. He often got VIP tickets and was able to meet with the stars before or after concerts.

Vance also had a passion for restoring and fixing up older Pontiacs. He restored an old family car, a 1969 Camaro. Before and after his Mission, you often would see him on the weekends at the racetrack showing off what he could do and how fast he could push it. There wasn't much he didn't know about cars. His knowledge and expertise in mechanics was amazing. He could often diagnose a problem over the phone and taught his children how to fix and take care of their own vehicles.

He is preceded in death by a Sister, NaDeen Smith, Father, Normand Hunt, Stepfather, Herald Billeter, Step Father-in-Law, Gerry Spinden, Paternal grandparents, Clair and Madge Hunt, Maternal grandparents, Arah and Rula Martineau, and his beloved and devoted dog, Pepper.

Surviving is his devoted Wife Brenda of Clearfield UT, Children; Heather (Peter) Cowley of Brigham City UT, Amber (Josh) Savage of Roy UT, Steven (Breanna) Hunt of Ogden UT. Grandchildren; Zayn, Nathan, Liam Cowley, Brooklynn, Greyson, Oaklynn Savage, and Emmamarie, and baby girl Hunt. Mother, Marian (Richard) Anderson of Salt Lake City UT, Sisters, LaDawn (Brent) Hansen of Clinton UT, Vonya (Cory) Thompson of Salt Lake City UT, Teralee (Eddie) Miller of Green River WY, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Enterprise has not been the same since Vance moved up north. He always had a smile and a helping hand for anyone he met. Our prayers are with all of his family members as they adjust to life without him here. He will always be a part of your lives. You will always be able to feel his love as you continue your journeys here on earth.

Deepest sympathies to Vance's family. Vance was in my North Ogden ward and was one of my High School friends. He was truly a good friend. The plan of salvation is real i.e. till we meet again. Regards, Doug Sheridan
