Veldyn "Vel" Anderson

Veldyn (Vel) Anderson, 92, was called home to be with his LORD on February 20, 2025, at Samaritan Bethany in Rochester, MN.
Vel was born on September 21, 1932, to Edward and Eugenia (Lueck) Anderson of Princeton, WI, and was the youngest of three sons. During his youth, he attended Little Mecan School and the Lutheran school in Princeton. He later received his Electronics Certificate from DeVry Institute of Technology.
On June 25, 1955, Vel married Lois (Klingbeil) Anderson, the love of his life, and settled down in Sheboygan Falls, WI. Together they built a family and raised three daughters: Gail (Jan) Porter of Austin, MN; Dawn Haller of Mondovi, WI; and Victoria (Ronald) Roder of Spencer, WI. His love for God and his family was central to his life.
Vel worked at Kohler Company for over 40 years, in various positions. He also owned a television and radio repair side business for several years. For many years, he enjoyed being a bus driver and an auxiliary policeman. He found joy in woodworking, creative projects and repairs, riding his motorcycle, and traveling. After wintering in Florida for a decade, Vel and Lois moved to Stewartville, MN.
He is survived by his wife; daughters; grandchildren Michael (Claudia) Porter, Stephen (Miranda) Porter, Abby Porter, Nickolas (Jenny) Haller, Benjamin Haller, Andie (Austin) Fenske, and Joshua (Miranda) Burdey; as well as eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Verdyn Anderson and Verlyn Anderson; and grandson Bryan Porter.
Family members would like to thank the wonderful staff at Samaritan Bethany for the years of kindness and care shown to Vel, and to the staff at Rochester Cremation Services for their compassion.
A small private memorial service will be held on March 1, 2025, at Samaritan Bethany Nursing Home in Rochester, MN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan Bethany in Rochester, MN, or Immanuel Lutheran Church in Racine, MN.
