Vell C. Lewis, 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025. Visitations will be held Friday, October 10th, 2025 from 11 am to 2 pm at Griffin Mortuary and Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3 pm at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Vell C. Lewis was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas to Ethel Mae Dial and Lee Andrew Dial on June 28th, 1944. He attended Lubbock Public School and graduated from Dunbar High School, then attended LCC and graduated. He played basketball with the Harlem Stars Basketball Team and he also loved sports. He was loved by many family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother Ethel Mae Dial, his father Lee Andrew Dial, his sister Lela Dial Cooper, his brothers Lee Andrew Dial, Jr. and Jimmy Ray Dial, and his son Michael J. Lewis.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughters Stacey Washington, Rhonda Kelly both of Lubbock TX, Brittany Lewis of Arlington TX and Shanice Yvette Rogers of Charlotte NC, his sons Scotty Hereford of Lubbock TX, and Edward Cromer of Odessa TX, his sisters Jo Ann Dial and Peggy Dial both of Lubbock TX, his brother Tommy of Lubbock TX, his grandchildren DeAndre Quarrels, Mychael Lewis, and Allen Smith all of Dallas TX, Trinequa Harris of Jacksonville FL, and Jasmine Fletcher also of Dallas TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
