Ms. Velma Carson

Velma Carson, passed away on July 25, 2024, at the home.
Mother Velma Carson was born May11, 1933, in Summer, Mississippi to Alfred Forbes Sr. and Georgia Forbes who preceded her in death along with her loving husband, Smith Carson Sr.; sons, Smith Carson Jr.; Roscoe Carson; Girard Carson, daughters, Helen Gene Carson; Arrow Ann Carson; grandson, Larry James Hines Jr.; granddaughter, Monica Carson; great-granddaughter, Avery Reedus; and best friend, Lunni Mae Norton.
Mother received her formal education in Summer, Mississippi. Mother moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1963. She worked for Jane and Kenneth Krakauer for forty-seven years. Mother received the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior over fifty years ago. And joined Greater Holy Temple church of God in Christ under Bishop C. N. Rucker, and served in the following capacities, The Mother Board and Treasurer. Later under bishop Haynes and Travis Shockley. Later she joined Greater Work under Bishop Travis Shockley.
She leaves behind a legacy defined by her unwavering devotion to her family and her deep commitment to her faith. She was not just a mother and grandmother, she was the embodiment of love and kindness, nurturing those around her with a spirit that seemed to shine brighter than the sun. As a dedicated church member, Mother Velma found joy in serving God and ensuring that her family thrived under the watchful eye of her nurturing heart.
She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Velma M. Carson of Kansas City, Missouri; and Barbara Ann Carson Hayes of Kansas City, Missouri; three sisters, her twin Thelma McCullum of Chicago, Illinois; Olena Williams of Tutwiler, Mississippi; Clotea Nelson of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren, Carlton; Cynthia; Vernetta; Swanita; Veronica; Curley; Smith III; Johnny; Natalya; Kyle; Jamal; Jasmine; Javon; several great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and great-great-great grandchild; a host of nieces; nephews; other family; and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Greater Works Family Worship Center. Interment Mount Moriah Cemetery. Visitation from 10am-11am at the church. Ser vices conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolence may be shared on our website.
