Velma Slone Obituary Velma Slone, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Mill Creek Nursing in Galion, Ohio.
She was born on August 9, 1952 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late Thearn and Lucrecy Gayheart, she was a resident of Shelby since 1986.
Velma was employed by Edge Plastics and enjoyed yard work and loved spending time with her grandchildren and her dog.
Those who cherish her memories include her son Logan (Erin) Slone of Bellville; her two grandchildren, Stella Jean and Sadie Mae Slone; her sister Arbutus Gayheart of Shelby; her three brothers, Tommy Gayheart of Shelby, Clark (Pat) Gayheart of Attica and Clyde (Shelia) Gayheart of Willard.
She is proceeded in death by her parents; her five brothers, Vernus Gayheart, Lonnie Gayheart, Thurman Gayheart, Larry Gayheart and Terry Gayheart and her sister Mattlene Gayheart.
Friends and family may honor her life from 10am to 11am at Barkdull Funeral Home on Friday, January 31, 2025. A burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery following visitation time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Velmas memory to: Humane Society of Richland County, 3025 Park Avenue West, Mansfield, Ohio 44906.
