Venila Quackenbush Obituary

Venila worked as an elementary school teacher for Green, Cutler Salvage, Delo Country Schools, and the Blanchard Elementary School system. She was a devoted housewife for 70 years. She was a faithful and devoted member of Blanchard Pine River United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and helped with Vacation Bible School. She was a past member of the Gleaners. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Venila is survived by her sons, Alan (Cathy) Quackenbush of Alma; Karl Quackenbush, Javan (Heather) Quackenbush both of Blanchard; four grandchildren, Mallory (Chris) DeMerell, Kalvin (Liberty), Cole and Sadie Quackenbush; five great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Jack, Abraham, Lucy and Alice DeMerell; a sister Saralee (Tom) Slusher of Edmore; and Carrie Quackenbush. A thank you to caregivers Barb Turcotte, Eryn Tiffany, Linda Barber, Cyndi Theilen, and a special thanks to Bethany Thompson and Jessica Tiffany for their extra care and compassion. Also, a special thanks to the hospice nurse Marc from The Care Team.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; a grandson, Jacob Quackenbush; her parents and a brother, Gerald Uebele.
A Celebration on Venila's life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 12:30 pm at Blanchard Pine River United Methodist Church with Pastor Melody Olin officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Blanchard Pine River Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11 am until the time of services at the church. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Gratiot County Community Mental Health or Blanchard Pine River United Methodist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma.
