Vera Avon Dotson Charles Obituary
Vera was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening and ginsenging. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Charles; one son, Danny Matthew Huffman; one sister, Abera Justus; and five brothers, Johnny Dotson, Robert Lee Dotson, Billy Ray Dotson, Charles Vernon Baker and Bazil Junior Dotson.
Those left to cherish her include her three daughters, Melissa (Leroy) Hall of Lincoln, MI, Priscilla (Russell) Smith, Bell Charles (Jackie Osborne) all of Grundy, VA; three sons, Seth Charles of Grundy, Danny (Charlotte) Charles of Feds Creek, KY, and Austin Charles of Grundy, VA; one sister, Evelyn (Conn) Kelly of Shelbiana, KY; and four brothers, John L. (Teresa) Dotson of Big Rock, VA, Elmer (Teresa) Baker and Jim (Margaret Baker both of Grundy, VA, and Cecil (Janifer) Baker of Vansant, VA.
She is also survived by her loving grandchildren Gabe, Austin, Lee, Kaitlin, Ryan, Brady, Emily, Jamie, and Madison; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Vera Avon Dotson Charles will be held at Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 12:00 noon with Pastor Paul Dotson officiating. Burial will follow in the Osborne Family Cemetery on Locust Rd, Grundy, VA.
Active pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel after 6:00 p.m. Monday, October 3rd and Tuesday, October 4th with evening with services to begin at 7:00 p.m.
