With profound sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of Vera Faye Wilson Corcoran Spicer, who entered into eternal rest of Wednesday, January 7, 2026, in
Rome, Georgia, at the age of 92.
Born on January 22, 1933, in
Winfield, Tennessee (Scott County), Faye embarked on a rich and varied life journey, spending significant chapters in Kentucky, California, and Georgia. Most recently, she found comfort and community as a cherished resident of Renaissance Assisted Living Home in
Rome, Georgia. During her time there, Faye developed a deep affection for her caregivers, whose compassionate attention from doctors, nurses, and support staff she came to regard as an extended family. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Faye was the beloved daughter of the late Dewey Elmer Wilson and Lella Virginia Price Reeves. Throughout her remarkable life, she exemplified an indomitable spirit, unwavering resilience, and a profound devotion to her family. Her artistic soul found vibrant expression in her lifelong passion for creativity. This dedication culminated in her earning an art certificate from the esteemed National Association of School of Art and Design (NASAD), an achievement that filled her with immense pride. Art was more than just a hobby for Faye; it was a reflection of her thoughtful perspective and her ability to perceive and convey the inherent beauty in the world around her.
Family was the epicenter of Faye's world, a wellspring of constant joy and pride. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Connie Hulsey (Kenneth), Ella Whelchel, Kimber Brock, Trina Shuman (Steven), and Anita Borders (Rodney). Her memory will also be treasured by her multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward the indelible legacy of her love, guidance, and unwavering support across generations.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents; her devoted husbands, Marvin Corcoran, Sr. and Rev. Anthony Spicer; her cherished daughter, Robin Harbin; her son, Marvin Corcoran, Jr.; her sisters, Frances Hinton and Betty Warren; and her brothers, Paul Wilson, Norman Wilson, Donald Wilson, Homer Wilson, Richard Reeves, and Freddie Reeves.
Vera Faye Wilson Corcoran Spicer will be remembered for her vibrant creative spirit, her gentle yet powerful strength, and the immeasurable love she bestowed upon her family. Her life stands as a testament to perseverance, artistry, and an enduring devotion to her faith. The beautiful legacy she leaves behind will be cherished always.
The family cordially invites friends to gather for visitation on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour service. Funeral services will commence at 1:00pm on Monday, January 12, 2026, in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Mrs. Amanda Shuman Scoggins (granddaughter), Mr. Danny Wilson (nephew), Mr. Bryce Collins (great-grandson), Rev. Mark Willingham, and Rev. Roger Parris. Following the service, Faye will be laid to rest at Rockmart Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Collins (grandson), Bryce Collins (great-grandson), Vineeth Inakollu, Donovan Scoggins (great-grandson), Dustin Scoggins, Josh Bishop (grandson), and Rodney Borders (son-in-law). Mr. Steve Shuman (son-in-law) will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
