Verna Elizabeth Richards

Verna Richards passed to the arms of her Lord and Savior May 28, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Wil and Oliver Puls, Charlotte Morrow and her husband Howard.
Verna was born and raised in Fraser, Mi on a farm owned by her parents, George and Erna Puls. She graduated from Fraser High School in 1949, as class salutatorian and then earned her degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan University. Verna taught school for two years.
She met her husband, Howard Richards, and they were married in August 1954, in Fraser. They celebrated 66 wonderful years of marriage together.
Verna left teaching to raise three daughters and to manage the many duties of the wife of the Superintendent of Fraser Public Schools. She exemplified the adage that behind every good man is a great woman.
She had many interests, including golf and especially gardening, where she eventually studied to become a Master Gardener. Her personal gardens were a sight to behold. She also returned to college to earn a master's degree in education.
Howard and Verna bought a vacation property in Palms, MI. They spent many weekends and summers there, before selling their Fraser home to move north full time. Verna was smart, beautiful, kind and always put her family first. She had a smile for everyone and will be missed by her daughters, Susan (Ron) Minke, Karen (Jerry) Warson and Cathy (Joe) Metz. She had three grandchildren, Sarah (Andrew) Smith, Jason (Lauren) Minke and Mark (Danielle) Metz and six great-grandchildren.
