Vernon Theo Bledsoe

Vernon Theo Bledsoe, 87, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, September 7, 2025, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Bethel Baptist Church in Ocilla, Georgia, with the Rev. Tracy Clements and the Rev. Tommy Land, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Waterloo Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia. The family will receive friends Friday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Bledsoe was born February 5, 1938, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Grady & Mary Ellen Carr Bledsoe. He was a former resident of Laurens County and Candler County and moved to Fitzgerald in 1979. Mr. Bledsoe worked as a Civil Engineer, retiring from the Department of Transportation in 1991. He then worked for Moreland Altobelli Associates, now Atlas Engineering. He was an avid hunter and loved being outdoors and working on tractors. He was a jack of all trades, and a master of none. Mr. Bledsoe had a wonderful sense of humor with a particular expertise in Dad jokes. He was a member and a deacon of Bethel Baptist Church where he also was song leader and sang in the choir.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Vivian McGuire Bledsoe of Fitzgerald; children: Julia & Willie Cravey of Fitzgerald, Terry & Tina Bledsoe of Waynesboro, Dena & Tony Thompson of Metter, and Merrie & Douglas Glisson of Livingston, Illinois; grandchildren: Christopher L. Fulmer, Mark A. Cravey, Kelsey D. Cravey, Suzannah (Thomas) Hobbs, Toby A. O'Neal, David A. (Lorin) Bledsoe, Deanna J. (Anthony) Reaves, Landon M. Scott, Tarah M. Thompson, Haley C. Thompson, Mitchell C. (Diana) Glisson, and Tyler D. Glisson; great-grandchildren: Coley, Alexis, Aidan, Braxton, Chase and Chloe; and a sister, Gwynell Floyd of Macon.
