Vernon Lee Swasey, born August 28, 1938, in Mona, Utah, passed away on December 16, 2024, in Payson, Utah, at the age of 86.
Vernon was married to Sandra Stewart Swasey for 63 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lavon Swasey; his siblings, Floyd Elray "Zeke" Swasey, Florin "Poge" J. Swasey, Ireata Swasey Hansen, Sheila Swasey Hansen, and Joyce Swasey Pay; his wife, Sandra; and his son, Jeffrey Lynn Swasey.
He is survived by his brother, Clyde Swasey, and his sister, Charlene Swasey Nielson (Robert). He leaves behind four sons: Michael Swasey (Renee) of Louisville, Kentucky; Brent Swasey (Laurie) of Mapleton, Utah; Kevin Swasey (Kelly) of Payson, Utah; and Steven Swasey (Heather) of Saratoga, Utah. He was proud of his 23 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Vernon's journey began with service to his country when he joined the Navy after graduating high school. Later, he dedicated over 30 years of his professional life to manufacturing management, primarily with Carnation and Silgan Containers, while residing in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
Vernon was a dedicated father, actively involved in his sons' activities, including sports and Boy Scouts. He was an avid reader of Louis L'Amour books and loved raising animals. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent time camping, ATVing, and attending rodeos. Vernon retired to Milburn, Utah where he served for 10 years as a temple worker in the Manti Temple.
Vernon was generous by nature, sensitive to the needs of others and always ready to offer a helping hand. His life was marked by hard work, faith, and a love for his family.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fairview City Cemetery.
