Vernon Arnold "Bud" Western, 71, of Mooresville, passed suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Fulton County Medical Center in Pennsylvania while traveling with his family. Bud was born on February 7, 1954 in Indianapolis to the late Myron Earl Western and Betty Ruth (Haymaker) Western.
He graduated from Mooresville High School with the class of 1972. In high school, he played basketball and sang in the choir. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country honorably. He worked as an X-Ray technician at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Church in Mooresville.
On December 22, 1973, he married the love of his life, Shelia Renora Cook. Together they built a legacy that they are proud of, and his grandchildren were truly the "apple of his eye." He greatly enjoyed fishing, tractor rides, and many more activities with his grandchildren. Bud spent countless hours mowing the grass and enjoyed being outside. He also took great pride in being able to keep the spirit of the holidays alive for his family each Christmas.
Bud is survived by his family and friends who will miss him dearly including his wife, Shelia Western of Mooresville; son, Jeremy (wife, Erica) Western of Mooresville; daughters, Ashley (husband, Brandin) Hine of Mooresville and Cara (husband, Daniel) Robbins of Mooresville; brothers, Richard (wife, Kathleen) Hamilton of Elizabeth and Mark (wife, Patty) Western of Nixa, MO; sisters, Charla "Sue" Lannan of Mooresville, Lynn (husband, William) Rose of Mooresville, Rheba (husband, James "Jim") DeWitt of Monks Corner, SC, and Renthia "Rennie" Calidonio of Mooresville; sister-in-law, Suzanne Western of Haughton, LA; and grandchildren, Erin, Benjamin, Daniel, Landin, Jadin, Westin, Renora, and Tripp.
