Veronica Belva Brown was born on February 22, 2005, in Watertown SD to Rachael Redwing and Chadwell Brown. Veronica went to school in Watertown, Summit, and Tiospa Zina. While at TZ she was in the Gifted/Talented program and made short videos with the movie company "On Native Ground" She graduated from Summit High School in 2023 as Salutatorian receiving high honors including an award from the National Honor Society. Veronica also enjoyed choir and had a beautiful voice; on occasion she sang the national anthem for the HS games. She was active in many of the HS activities despite her illness. While still in high school, in the fall of 2020, Veronica was diagnosed with melanoma cancer, by 2023 the cancer advanced to stage four. This did not stop Veronica from pursuing an education. She applied for and was accepted to the University of Morris, Morris MN to study psychology. Veronica received an offer of a 4-year scholarship from UM Morris based on her HS grade point average; she received this at the highest tier awarded! While at college Veronica met Ivy Lewno who became a best friend. They were roommates and shared much of college life together as well as nurturing their cats they considered family; they were later joined by cousin Jesyna Paul who assisted Vee in medical transport and companionship. Veronica also met Zion Zetina during this time. They quickly became best friends and began a relationship that will someday continue in heaven. Zion was a Godsend to Vee and all the family. Veronica was there for the birth of her nephew Camden and loved both Camden and Oliver as her own. In her second year at college, Veronica's illness forced her to abandon college as she became too ill to attend classes. Veronica was the baby of the family and everyone's baby sister; she is greatly missed by all who knew her. Veronica was a perfect shining star among us! Veronica passed away on December 27, 2025, at Ava's House Sioux Falls, SD.

Vee was my cousin, but I considered her my sister growing up. She was so awesome, bright and beautiful and so so so very talented. We had great talks about the future like brainstorming future kid names. I remember her singing ALLL the time and she loved it and well, she was great at it too. We would often record us singing together and I'm glad to say I still have some of those recordings of us singing as kids/teens. She has such a beautiful soul. I'm going to miss nerding out with her. Her personality is one of a kind and she'll always have a piece of my heart. I miss her so dearly. She made everybody comfortable and had such a warm presence whenever she'd walk into the room. I wanted to grow old and become aunties with her so badly. We talked about it alll the time and how we would be the cool aunties too, lol. The last time I saw her at Ava's House, she was talking and laughing, and she gave me the tightest hug ever. We didn't let go for about a minute, I wasn't sure if that would've been the last hug, but it was, but I'm grateful it was for that long. I love you Vee, I miss you, your family loves you and is so very proud of you. Your accomplishments are so very inspiring. I love you cuz. I love you sis. -Raya
