Steven Paul Bronson was born on June 29, 1961 in Watertown, SD to Orvin and Donna (Monserud) Bronson. He grew up on the family farm in Blooming Valley Township – rural Summit, SD. Steve went to Sunday School at Lebanon and was confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church. Steve was a 1979 graduate from Summit high school with honors.
In June of 1982, Steve was united in marriage to Pam Swanson, also gaining a step-daughter. In October of 1982, just months after getting married, Steve was involved in a tragic accident which left him paralyzed. The accident did not keep Steve from living his life to the fullest. He went on to attend Lake Area Tech in Watertown, SD for Ag Banking and graduated in 1986. Steve eventually moved to Sioux Falls, SD and started employment with Sioux Falls Transit. In 2011 he moved back to Watertown to be closer to his family.
Steve was an avid sports fan, cheering for the Minnesota Vikings, Twins and Timberwolves. He also kept up on his family members' sports and enjoyed fantasy football league. Every January from 1988 – 2004 Ski for Light in the Black Hills was a huge part of Steve's life. He competed in downhill skiing on a pulk sled and took home many 1st place trophies and medals. Several family members and friends came out to cheer him on. Most importantly, he met the most giving and gracious people who became lifelong friends. For many years, Steve was an advocate for handicap accessibility rights.
Steve became quite the cook over the years and enjoyed preparing meals for his dad and siblings. Steve had daily phone calls with his dad telling him what was going on in Blooming Valley, even though sometimes questioned by family if he was right but, usually was. He loved the holidays and playing pinochle with his family. His number one pride and joy was his step-daughter, Jodi and her children. He treasured all the time he was able to spend with them. Jane Bludorn Albertson was a very special friend to Steve, helping care for him and doing many great favors for him.
Steve's life will forever be cherished by his surviving loved ones, his dad, Orvin Bronson; step-daughter, Jodi Leonardi and her children, Aili, Jonathan and Meadow; sister, Shari (Daron) Steiner; and brother, Colin (Renae) Bronson; his nephews and nieces, Kris (Tamijo) Bronson; Summer Bronson (Alex Cifuentes); Evan Steiner; Chase (Tashena) Bronson; Saraya (Tate) Johnson; sister in-law, Kathy (Todd) Brink; and great nieces and nephews and his caretaker, Jane Bludorn Albertson.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Donna Bronson; brother, Kevin Bronson; nephew, Kerry Bronson; and his grandparents.
