Veronica M. Gursky, age 96, formerly of Lowman, NY, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. She was born January 27, 1929 in Elmira, NY daughter of the late Richard and Mildred (McClure) Fitzgerald. Veronica was married to the late Stephen W. Gursky and was a devoted homemaker raising her family with great pride. She was a member of St. Peter & Paul’s Catholic Church, and enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her loving family.
Survivors include: her son Stephen (Suzanne) Gursky of Pine City, NY; daughters Karen (Michael) VanKeuren of Upton, MA, and Debra (Thomas) Cope of Brentwood, TN; daughter-in-law Teri Gursky of Wellsburg, NY; grandchildren - Rhianna (Ben) Weiss, Seth Cope, Maple (Randy) Pallotta, Rebecca (John) Phillips; great-grandchildren - Landon Cope, Winter Weiss, Lorenzo Pallotta, and Belle Phillips; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Veronica was predeceased by her parents, husband Stephen, a son, Robert Gursky, grandson, Galen Cope, great-grandson Fennic Weiss, and siblings, Richard Fitzgerald, Mary Connell and Jack Fitzgerald.
Family and friends are invited to call Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY 14904. Veronica’s funeral service will be held immediately following at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, NY.
