Veronica Renee' Howard was born on October 6, 1961, in Laurel, Mississippi. She attended Callaway High School and continued her education at Hinds Community College, where she completed the Allied Nursing Program in 1993. From an early age, Veronica had a gift for caring for others and a heart for service, which led her into a long and fulfilling career in nursing.
For more than 20 years, Veronica devoted herself to caring for patients across residential, homecare, and clinical settings. She served with compassion and dedication at Sta-Home Home Health Agency, Brandon Court Nursing and Rehab Center, The Blake Assisted Living Community, and other facilities, where she was known for treating each patient with dignity and kindness. A lifelong learner, Veronica never stopped pursuing her dreams and was working toward becoming a Registered Nurse (RN). She cared deeply for her classmates and colleagues, never wanting to miss a study session and never hesitating to pick up an extra shift to support her team.
Outside of work, Veronica embraced life with joy and laughter. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making others feel welcomed and loved. She cherished traveling with her sisters, where she was always the life of the trip, filling every moment with fun. She looked forward to the fair each year, enjoyed watching her favorite movie The Wizard of Oz, and delighted in the simple joys that made life bright. Her son, Fredrick and grandchildren, Sariah, Mason, and Jenee, were the center of her world, and she filled their lives with unconditional love, adventure, and playfulness.
Veronica's unwavering faith was at the heart of everything she did. She was an active member of Word of Life Church, where her love for God and others was evident in her service. Her life was a testament to God's grace, and one of her favorite songs, "Goodness of God," beautifully reflected the way she lived, with gratitude, joy, and trust in the Lord.
Those who knew Veronica will forever carry the memory of her radiant smile, her warm laughter, her love of family, and her zest for life. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and joy that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
Veronica was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy came from the love of her family. She treasured every moment spent with them and especially adored her grandchildren, Sariah, Mason, and Jenee, who were the light of her life. With her warmth, unconditional love, and joyful spirit, she created countless memories that her family will hold dear. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her love remains forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Fredrick Howard; father, Fred Howard; grandchildren, Sariah Howard, Mason Howard, and Jenee Howard; sisters, Deidre Hulbert and Jamila Jones; brothers-in-law, Troy Hulbert Sr. and William Jones, III; nephews, Troy Hulbert (Jessica) and Andrew Hulbert; nieces, Lauren Jones and Ariel Jones; great-nephews, Jaiden Hulbert and Jayce Hulbert; extended family Patricia Grant (Gary), Geneva Butler (Roby), John Williams (Barbara), Linda Williams, Ross Williams (Janice), Deric Sanders (Mazella) Jaunita Powe, Amber Powe and dear friends, Eric Johnson, Lisa Stewart, The ladies from the Birthday Club and a host of cousins and other loved ones she held close to her heart.
