Versie Gay Jones, 86, of Baker, LA, went home to be with the Lord on May 28, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on April 20, 1939, in Franklin County, MS, Versie was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She lived a life of faith, marked by service, and filled with love. Always quick to lend a helping hand, she never hesitated to show up when someone was in need. Her unwavering support for her family was a constant blessing, and her joyful, contagious laugh could light up any room.
Versie is survived by her loving husband, Bobby Jones; her daughters, Jackie Rogillio (Brent Rogillio), Cindy Garza (David Garza), and Betty Smith (Lionel Smith); her 5 grandchildren, Tabitha Ducote (Troy Ducote), Trent Rogillio (Lindsey Rogillio), Dean Smith (Cindy Smith), Paige McHugh (Ezra McHugh), and Bobby Smith (Madison Smith); and her 8 great grandchildren, Addilyn Rogillio, Evelyn Smith, Weston Smith, Paisley Ducote, Lorelai Ducote, Madeleine McHugh, Luke McHugh, and Nolan McHugh.
She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends all of whom she cherished deeply.
She was preceded in death by her dad, W.H. "Jack" Gay; her mother, Gladys Gay; and her brother, Windsor Gay.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The visitation will continue at Concord Baptist Church, 7125 Bogue Chitto Rd SE, McCall Creek, MS, on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. The graveside service and burial will follow at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, in McCall Creek, Mississippi.
