Vesta Bailey Obituary
Vesta Maud Bailey was born on December 26, 1935, in Lottery, St. James, Jamaica, WI, where she was raised and rooted in strong family values and faith. In the 1980s, she migrated to the United States, where she resided until her passing on January 19, 2026.
Vesta was a devoted and active member of her church and served her community whenever her health permitted. She had a caring spirit and spent much of her life working as a caregiver to both the young and the elderly, always offering compassion, patience, and love.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Everard Bailey Sr., and her sons Kalvin Anglin (survived by Beverly Anglin) and Winston Young.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Holly Martin; Maria Brown (Alfred Brown); Everard Bailey Jr. (Nadine Bailey); and Kerri Ann Smith (Kevin Smith).
Vesta was a proud and loving grandmother to Shavelle Edmond (Warren Edmond); Sean Martin (Shauna Martin); Saskia Nosworthy (Delano Nosworthy); Kalvin Anglin Jr.; Duane Anglin; Gregory Young; Maurice Young (Shantia Young); Alicia Knight (Terri Alford); Kadijah Spence; Brittney Bailey; Kjiersten Bailey; Morganne Bailey; and Nathan Bailey.
She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: TKeyah, Kennya, Derek, Jada, Sean Jr., Shannon, Julia, Jasmine, Maurice Jr., Mya, Maison, Zaiden, and Kimarlo, and her great-great-granddaughter Kayla a true blessing of five generations.
Vesta loved her family dearly, and her life was celebrated every chance it was given. Her legacy of faith, service, and unconditional love will live on in all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026 from 12:00PM – 1:45PM followed by a service of Celebration at 2:00PM at Riverdale SDA Church, 165 Riverdale Ave., Yonkers, NY. 10701.
Interment will be in Sunderland Lottery, ST James, Jamaica, on March 8th 2026
