Vicki Pezley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 10, 2025.
Vicki (Payne) Pezley of Palmyra died surrounded by family at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born Aug. 28, 1954, the sixth child of Floyd and Della Payne of Kansas City, MO. Her family moved to Keokuk in 1959, where she spent the majority of her childhood. She married Denis Pezley on Dec. 1, 1972, in Alexandria, MO. Vicki graduated from Keokuk High School in 1972 and from Southeastern Community College with an associates degree in computer science. Vicki and Denis owned farmland in and around Keokuk until highway and airport development pushed them to move to Palmyra. Vicki worked as a secretary for Church of the Nazarene in Hannibal and Atlas Credit Union in Hannibal.

Services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Church of New Beginnings, 2244 Mckinley Ave., Keokuk, IA.

She is survived by Denis, her husband of 53 years; three sons, DJ Pezley of Fulton, MO, Dustin (Katie) Pezley of Decatur, IL, and Ryan (Desiree) Pezley of Mexico, MO; one daughter, Amanda Pezley of Hannibal, MO; 10 grandchildren, Kiria, Xavier, Jordan, Kadence, Alexis, Luke, Ella, Jonathen, Oley, and Brix; one great-grandchild; three siblings, Peggy Skinner, Gary (Trish) Payne, and Floyd (Mary) Payne, all of Keokuk; three half-siblings, Melody Krone, Lisa Payne, and David Payne, all of Virginia, and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Della Payne and three siblings, Larry Payne, Ronnie Payne and Patsy Bell.

Memories were considered gold to Vicki, and she spent a great deal of time collecting as many as she could with all the family she held dear.
