Vickie J. Aro, 68, passed away on June 9, 2025, at Intersect Health Care of Hancock, where she had been a resident patient for the past two years following a lengthy illness.
She was born on January 29, 1957, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, a daughter of the late Charles and Beverly (Ellis) Schroeder. Vickie was raised in the Copper Country by her mother and step-father, Rafael and Beverly Kolehmainen, and was a graduate of the Lake Linden High School.
She was united in marriage to David Aro and after raising two daughters together, parted but remained friends.
Vickie was always a hard-working person, waitressing at various restaurants in the area and working as a cashier at Walmart and Econo Foods.
Ms. Aro enjoyed caring for her pets and spending time with her family. Vickie's warm personality and kindness will not only be missed by her family but her extended family and former customers she assisted over the years.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her second husband, Mark Hackman.
Surviving are: Her daughters: Heather (Daron Butkovich)Aro of Dodgeville & Jill Aro of Yuma, AZ; Her grandchildren: Matthew, Rhiannon, Jarod, Brandon, and Alex; Her siblings: Micki (Edward) Dorvinen, Thom Kolehmainen, Kathy (Wayne) Ohtonen, Karla Kolehmainen, Sally Reed, Sandi Kolehmainen, & Several Aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
A private graveside service for Vickie will be held at a later time in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock with Rev. Kelly Ylitalo to officiate.
