Vicky Lynn Moody Owen, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2024, at the age of 66, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Born on November 20, 1957, in Lucedale, one of thirteen children to JB and Elizabeth Hobby. Known to most everyone as Vicky, she was a cherished sister, loving wife, devoted mother, adored grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her. Her life was defined by her unwavering kindness and her innate ability to find humor in every situation. Vicky's laughter was infectious, and her presence could light up the room. She was a woman who dedicated her life to her family, creating a home filled with warmth and joy. Vicky's generous spirit extended beyond her family, touching the lives of everyone she met with her compassionate heart, and she will be forever missed by all whose life she touched. She was preceded by her parents, J.B. Hobby and Elizabeth Sylvester; her siblings: Lulu Cooper, Joellen Moore, and Wanda Burkhalter; her son-in-law Billy Tims; and her first husband, Richard Olin Moody. Vicky's legacy of love continues through her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Grady Owen, with whom she shared countless cherished moments; her children: Jerry (Vicky) Mizell of Lumberton, Sally (Jimbo) Thrash of Sumrall, Sandra Moody of McLain, Richard (Janette) Moody Jr. of New Augusta, Dana Tims of Lumberton, Donna (Kenny) Baker of Purvis, and Johnny (Rena) Owen of Richton, were the pride of her life. Vicky was a sister to a large, vibrant family, including Jim, Billy, Judy, and Bug Hobby, Sister Ann Havard, Cheat Davis, Pat Shoemaker, Judy Hobby, Martha Johnston, and Sally Colburn, and she cherished the bonds she shared with each of her siblings, finding strength and joy in their shared memories and experiences. Her legacy continues through her 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her spirit of love and kindness. Vicky's ability to make each of them feel uniquely loved was one of her most remarkable gifts. Vicky's life was a testament to the power of love. She nurtured her family with a kind heart and a generous spirit. Her funny anecdotes and bright smile were the highlights of many family gatherings, and her wisdom was a guiding light to all who sought it.
