Vicky S. Shortt, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on January 20, 1944, in Indianapolis, IN, to Herman and Genevieve Jennett, Vicky lived a full and vibrant life.
Vicky, known for her warm smile and generous spirit, was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Steven Peavler, Kim (Robert) Cross, and Nicky (John) Glass, step children Margaret Cagle, Gary Shortt, Terry Shortt, Natalie Snow, ten grandchildren: Maximus, Cassidy, Tyler, Emily, and Baily, Jennifer, Tricia, Brandi, Camren and Kalee and several great-grandchildren. Vicky was preceded in death by her two loving husbands, Charles G. Peavler and Phillip G. Shortt, who both shared and supported her passions throughout their years together.
Vicky's life was one of active engagement and service. She found great pleasure in baking, her hands skillfully crafting treats that delighted all who tasted them. Her commitment to her community was evident through her dedicated volunteering at the Greenwood Moose Lodge, where she touched many lives with her thoughtfulness and care. Vicky's playful spirit shone through in her enjoyment of a little friendly gambling, a pastime that brought her much joy and laughter.
An avid fan of Elvis music, Vicky's home was often filled with the iconic tunes of the King of Rock 'n' Roll, a soundtrack to the many happy moments she shared with family and friends. Those who knew Vicky will remember her as a loving and kind soul, always thoughtful in her actions and words. Her presence was a comfort, and her guidance a steady force in the lives of those she loved.
As we bid farewell to Vicky, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by the countless acts of kindness and moments of joy she bestowed upon us. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, as we hold her close in our hearts. Vicky's spirit, characterized by love and thoughtfulness, will forever be a part of the fabric of our lives. In her passing, Vicky leaves behind a world that she made brighter and a family that she made stronger. Her influence will be felt for generations to come, and her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Rest in peace, dear Vicky, until we meet again.
