Victor A. Rosales Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 28, 2005.
Victor Rosales and his wife, Sgt. Sandra Rosales, both served in Iraq while relatives cared for their infant son, Victor. "He was proud to be a soldier, I am proud to be a soldier and hopefully one day, my son will be a soldier too," Sandra Rosales said. Victor Rosales, 29, of Westminster, Calif., died April 13 in an explosion in Iraq. He was based in Vilseck, Germany. Born in Mexico City, Rosales moved to California and performed Mexican dances at local events as a boy. He joined the Army in 1995. He was known as a tough infantrymen with a twinkle in his eyes _ both warm and professional with other soldiers. "I only regret that he won''t be around to teach me more," one of his close friends said at a goodbye ceremony in Iraq. At the ceremony, roll call was conducted, a sergeant barking out the name of Rosales three times to be echoed by silence. Then the soldiers filed out into the heat and dust, tears streaming down their faces.

Hello,

We wanted you to know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We have recently sent Care Packages to our deployed troops in his name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Victor A. Rosales US Army Staff Sergeant.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, our family, friends and many others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

It is difficult to know what to say since I want to express my sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Staff Sgt Rosales. Please know that your loved one is not forgotten. I wish everyone impacted by this tragic loss strength and peace. I hope that Staff Sgt Rosales knew that there are people in America who respect his great courage in serving as a member of the US military. Although I did not know him, I know that he must have been a very special person to be willing to do something that most Americans will never have to experience, and for that we can never say thank you enough.
Thank you Staff Sgt Rosales!

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

Please contact me and I will email you back a copy of an
Angel and soldier drawing.

I did not know Victor, but I am remembering on
this day he gave his all.
He is my hero.

I was there at Ft Irwin when he first got his corporal and SGT stripes. What an amazing individual he was. Never lacking a sense of humor, there was good ole SGT Rosales out selling Churrios to us in the field. 2nd Platoon - H Co 2-11 ACR will always have a place in my heart and SGT Rosales is apart of many fond memories I have out there.

You will be missed by many. My condolences to the Rosales family..for you and the Army family have suffered a great loss. My prayers go out to all of you.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

To Victor and his family. I know it has been sometime since your dramatic loss but I need to thank you for letting me have the opportunity to meet SSG Rosales. I was a line medic for his troop while at Irwin. He was a great man, a great Soldier and he loved his wife very much. He used to joke w/ me because my husband is in too and we had braces and soo on, all that we had in common. I was very saddened when I received the news. I just want to send our love to your family and just to let you know he is still with you in spirit and in body he is w/ the Lord now on his Right side still protecting us everyday. Tahnk you and God Bless all of you.
