Victor Don Cottrell, born on November 6, 1947, in Borger, Texas, departed this life on September 9, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. His journey through life was marked by a steadfast dedication to his profession and a deep-rooted commitment to his loved ones.
Victor was a proud welder with the United Association 798, contributing his skills to the Alaska Pipeline Union. His work was not only a means of livelihood but also a testament to his commitment to craftsmanship and quality.
He received his education at Lathrop High School in Fairbanks, Alaska, where he likely developed a strong sense of community and camaraderie—qualities that would follow him throughout his life.
Victor is survived by his beloved wife, Julie Cottrell, and his son, Shon Cottrell, along with his daughter-in-law, Alejandra Cottrell. He also cherished his step-daughter, Amy Davis, and her husband, Jorden, as well as his step-sons, James Apfel and his wife Ashley, and Joe Marrone and his wife Tiffany. His siblings, Tonya Hopper and Lynn Tyler, remember him fondly, as do his grandchildren: Cooper Cottrell, Lara Cottrell, Jenna Davis, Carson Davis, Halie Marrone, Tyler Marrone, Zackary Marrone, Landon Apfel, and Maverick Kramer; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Victor was preceded in death by his father, Sherman Cottrell, mother, Dora Ogle, step-father, Dale Robinson, step-mother, Ann Cottrell, and brother, Jimmy Cottrell. Their memories and the influence they had on his life will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
A visitation to honor Victor’s life will be held on September 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Hawkins Funeral Home, located at 1909 9th St, Bridgeport, Texas.
Victor Don Cottrell will be remembered not only for his contributions as a skilled tradesman but also for his warmth, integrity, and the love he shared with family and friends. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched and the memories cherished by all who knew him.
