Victor Nello Mengarelli

March 25, 1934 - September 8, 2025

Victor Nello Mengarelli, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 08, 2025, at the age of 91.

Born on March 25, 1934, in Shelby, Mississippi, Victor was one of nine children of Charlie and Mary Mengarelli. Raised on a cotton farm in the Mississippi Delta, he learned the value of hard work early in life. At 19, he began what would become a remarkable 50 year career in the dredging industry, a career that carried him and his family around the world.

It was in Corpus Christi, Texas, that Victor met and married the love of his life, Emma Lee Limke. The two shared 65 beautiful years together, raising their daughters, Angela and Julie. They later welcomed their cherished grandchildren, Arieanna and Roman.

In 1974, Victor and his family made their home in Carriere, Mississippi, where he spent the last 51 years. Known for his generosity and zest for life, he found joy in tending his garden, crafting traditional Italian sausages, making Lonza, a cured ham that connected him to his family's Italian heritage.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents and seven of his siblings: Mack, Roy, John, Charlie, Joseph, EmmaJean, and Clara. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Emma Lee; daughters Angela Mengarelli Jones (Poplarville, MS) and Julie Mengarelli (Austin, TX); grandchildren, Arieanna and Roman; brother, Jimmy Mengarelli of Lafayette; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

When asked recently what he was most proud of in his life, Victor's answer was simple and true: "My Family"
