Victoriae Ann Steddom, 62, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital in Waterloo, IA. Cremation rites have been accorded, and Anderson Funeral Homes of Marshalltown has been entrusted with the arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 20, 2025, at Riverview Park. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com.
Victoriae was born on June 23, 1962, in Ottumwa, IA, to Clarence and Sharon (Holmes) Richards. She was raised in Ottumwa and graduated from Ottumwa High School. While attending college, she met Matthew Steddom. The two later married and began a family in Cedar Rapids, IA. Work eventually brought the family to Marshalltown, where Victoriae lived for the remainder of her life. Matt and Victoriae later divorced but remained connected through their children.
Though Victoriae did not follow what some may consider a "traditional" career path due to health challenges, she poured her heart into her most important role - being a devoted homemaker, mother, and volunteer. She was an active part of her children's lives, particularly through youth sports. She helped manage concession stands, served on several boards, and was a dedicated member of the PTSA.
One of Victoriae's greatest sources of pride was her involvement with the Marshalltown Assistance League. Giving back to her community through this organization brought her immense joy and purpose.
Victoriae will be remembered for her vibrant personality, her gift of turning strangers into friends through conversation, and her lifelong passion for helping others.
She is survived by her children, Makyla (Steve) Wendroth of Becker, MN, and Chris (Sarah) Steddom of Marshalltown; her beloved grandchildren, Harlen and Walker Wendroth, and Sophie Steddom; her mother, Sharon "Dee" Richards; her mother-in-law, Donna Steddom; her siblings, Becky (Brian) Selk of Ottumwa and Brian Richards of Pella, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence "Butch" Richards, and her father-in-law, John Steddom.
