Vincent Anquillare Obituary

Vincent Anquillare, Jr.
January 1, 2022
Vincent "Vin" Anquillare Jr., 84, of West Haven, passed away peacefully at Connecticut Hospice on Saturday, January 1, 2022, having been visited by loved ones over the last few weeks. Vincent was born in New Haven on September 26, 1937, a son of the late Vincent and Livia (Teodoro) Anquillare, Sr. He is survived by his son Mark (Anne) Anquillare; grandchildren Jake and Brooke Anquillare; his loving partner of 40 beautiful years, Susan Sullivan; stepchildren Stacy and Jim Sullivan; brother John (Joyce) Anquillare; nephews Michael (Stacey) and Dave Anquillare; grandnephew Michael, and grandniece Alexandra Anquillare. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley (Weissbrod) Anquillare.
Vin grew up in West Haven in a loving and active family with his brother, John. His first competitive sport was that of football, playing for both West Haven High School and the University of Bridgeport. While Vin loved all sports, he became a true hockey fan when his son played for West Haven High School, as well as the University of Notre Dame.
Professionally, Vin began his career a sales manager for Mantilia Motors of West Haven, dedicating 25 years of service. After the death of his wife in 1979, he and his brother established Anquillare's D&N Sporting Goods, located in downtown West Haven. This endeavor became a great success, supporting many local sports teams for over 25 years, while also offering him the flexibility of more time with his loving son, family, and devoted partner, Sue. Vin loved being a part of the sports community in West Haven, whereby he had the good fortune to form many lifelong friendships. Vin was a wonderful father, grandfather, and overall family man. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
Arrangements have been entrusted to West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 4th, at 11 o'clock, in Our Lady of Victory Church, West Haven. Friends are asked to meet DIRECTLY at church. Interment will immediately follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vincent's name to The Connecticut Hospice of Branford.
