Vincent Rooney Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 3, 2025.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Vincent William Rooney, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us surrounded by love. Vince, aged 64, is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Norma, and his two cherished sons, Bradley and Matthew Rooney, along with their wives, Kathy and Darian. He was a proud grandfather to Bella, Nala, James, Nate, and Theo Rooney.
In 2018 Vince faced a cancer diagnosis that would challenge him and his family. His determination in the face of adversity, particularly during his battle with cancer, inspired those around him. His refusal to give up hope and the strength of his hopeful outlook provided strength to his family and friends throughout his illness.
Vince's vast knowledge and love for learning were remarkable, and legendary to his family. His children affectionately dubbed him "Vince-apedia," a testament to his well-read nature and expertise on a wide range of subjects. This nickname not only reflected his intelligence but also highlighted his willingness to share information and engage in discussions on various topics.
His ability to impart knowledge in a relatable way inspired curiosity in his children, as well as others around him, fostering a love for learning that they carry with them. Vince's intellectual curiosity, combined with his generous spirit and kindness, made him a beloved mentor and source of wisdom in their lives.
Vince's journey from Chief Operations Engineer at Kingdon Capital Management LLC to co-owner of the Falls General Store in Northfield Falls, Vermont, reflects his diverse interests and deep-rooted passions. His career in technology showcased his analytical skills and dedication, but it was his love for baking that truly connected him to his past, as well as to his community in Northfield Falls. This passion stemmed from childhood memories of visiting bakeries with his mother and enjoying butter cookies, which was pivotal in shaping his passion for baking. Losing her at a young age made a profound impact on him, and he carried those memories as a source of inspiration throughout his life. This emotional connection to baking underscored Vince's desire to create a welcoming atmosphere at Falls General Store, reminiscent of his childhood.
In 2012 he enrolled at the French Culinary Institute to pursue a degree in Pastry, embodying his desire to blend his professional life with his personal passions. This bold transition highlighted his adventurous spirit and willingness to pursue what he truly loved.
In 2014 Vince and his wife, Norma, opened the Falls General Store together, fulfilling a long-held dream. He envisioned a warm and inviting space where community members could gather to enjoy delicious pastries while sharing stories and building connections. This vision reflected his understanding of the importance of community and the joy that comes from sharing good food and fellowship.
The legacy Vince created through the Falls General Store lives on through his son Bradley Steven Rooney, who carries on his father's baking passion. This passing of knowledge not only honors Vince's memory but also strengthens the family bond and keeps his love for baking alive within the community.
Vince collected guitars and had a passion for creating music on his computer, using various synthesizers and instruments. He built a full music studio and shared this passion with his son Matthew Vincent Rooney, who was often seen sitting at his computer or with a guitar in his hands, creating his own style of music, just like his father. This filled Vince with pride and awe, for his sons musical talent surpassed his own.
Vince was also proud of his 5 grandchildren, Bella - 8, Nala - 6, James - 4, Nate - 2 and Theo - 1.
He wished with all his heart that he could be around to watch them grow, get married and have families of their own.
Through his career, culinary pursuits, and community involvement, Vince Rooney left an indelible mark on the lives he touched. His story is a testament to the power of following one's passions, nurturing connections, and creating lasting memories that will continue to inspire future generations. He will live forever in our hearts.

Dearest Norma,
I am so saddened to learn of Vincent´s passing. Please accept our deepest condolences to you and your family. The memories of him I hold dear are of his visit with us in California and our wonderful trip to Tuscany. He was always a man of great knowledge, loved engaging in thoughtful discussions, and had such a warm sense of humor.

With Norma and Vince for the beginning, kind enough to give my son Brett a job, cooking pizzas and helping with the store in the fall of 2014. They are both wonderful people and Vince was always a person of positivity and purpose.
He will truly be missed !

Vince had such a deep sense of what he wanted to give and how he wanted to give it. He always wanted the best results and shared with deep care whenever he made an offering into this world. Nirmala - you saw that in him and helped him reach even farther. What an amazing caretaker and giver you have been during this time. Your love gave him more life. So many blessings coming your way.
