Vinod C. Patel

Vinod C. Patel, a cherished family man, respected engineer, and active community member, passed away peacefully in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, on October 17, 2023. Born in Khandhli, Gujarat, India on May 1, 1945, he was the beloved son of the late Kashiben and Chhotabhai Patel. Known for his intelligence and kindness, Vinod's life was marked by a deep commitment to his family, his work, and his community.
Vinod's love story with his wife, Chandrika, spanned over nearly half a century. Married for 49 loving years, they built a beautiful life together, marked by shared laughter, mutual respect, and enduring love. Their bond of love was further strengthened with the birth of their children, Manish (Rajul) Patel and Rupal (Trushar) Patel-Naik. Vinod was a loving father, guiding his children with wisdom and nurturing their dreams with unwavering support.
As a grandfather to Karina, Ariya, Sahana, Amira, and Seyva, Vinod showered his grandchildren with love and instilled in them the values of hard work, respect, and kindness. His legacy lives on in them, in their achievements, and in the lives they touch. He was also a dear brother to Dr. MC (the late Shardaben) Patel, Chandubhai (Vimalaben) Patel, and Pushpaben (Kirit) Patel, and a fond uncle to many nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss his presence deeply.
Professionally, Vinod made significant contributions as an engineer for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District. His intelligence and meticulous attention to detail were instrumental in his work, where he was well-respected and admired by his colleagues. His retirement marked an end to a long and successful career, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and excellence.
Beyond his professional life, Vinod was an active member of the SGPS. His involvement in the community was a testament to his belief in service, unity, and cultural preservation. His active participation in SGPS events and activities will be sorely missed, but his spirit of community service will continue to inspire those who knew him.
In memory of Vinod C. Patel, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, service, and dedication. His intelligence shone in his professional achievements, his kindness was reflected in his relationships, and his love for his family was evident in the beautiful family he built. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. His life stands as a testament to the enduring values of love, family, hard work, and community service. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate his life and the many ways he touched our lives.
