Viola Rumpf, 83, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, at Home of the Good Shepherd in
Saratoga Springs, New York.
Viola was born on July 16, 1942, in
Rochester, New York. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Evelyn Ranberg.
In her younger years, Viola and her five sisters would walk downtown Saratoga to the Community Theater on Broadway where musical comedies were big at that time. She enjoyed going to the drive-in movies, stock car races at Fonda Speedway, and liked to jitterbug at Fusco's Restaurant on Beekman Street.
She met her beloved husband Harry (Joe) in 1958 and they married on July 31,1960 after she graduated from Saratoga Springs High School.
Viola held a variety of customer service jobs in Saratoga including the Golden Krust Bakery, Ms. London's Bakery, Jamesway Department Store and finally retiring from Lowe's Home Improvement. During her retirement, she attended the Silver Sneakers Program at the Y where she made many friends.
Viola found joy in the quiet pleasures of life, especially getting lost in a good book, sharing her books with her family, or working through a challenging crossword puzzle. True crime shows were always on her TV but her favorite pastime was watching scary movies with her grandchildren. She also loved to travel and has been to many beaches along the East Coast, the Bahamas, Las Vegas, Yellowstone & Yosemite National Parks, Italy, and Ireland. Her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she loved deeply.
In addition to her parents, Viola was predeceased by her husband of 44 years Harry (Joe) Rumpf, her sister Sandra Florio who both passed away in 2004, and close friend Samuel Costanzo.
She is survived by her three children: Eric Rumpf (Darcie) of
South Glens Falls, NY; Stephanie Aldinger (William) of

Rockaway Park, NY. She is also survived by her four sisters: Evelyn Freeman of
Saratoga Springs, NY; Patricia Ranberg of
