Viola J. Summers, age 75, entered peacefully into eternal rest at JoEllen Smith Living Center on Monday, August 25, 2025. She was a native of Plaquemine Parish and a resident of Harvey, LA. Viola was proud graduate of L. B. Landry High School Class of 1967, and she continued her studies at the University of New Orleans. She was employed as Real Estate Agent with Gardner Realtors. Viola was also a member of the Eastern Stars. Loving mother of Michele (Mark A.) Rucker and Angie (Aaron Jr.) Black. Devoted grandmother of Ashleigh Michele McGill and Melvin Aaron Black. Great grandmother of Lux McRae and Taylin Aaron Black. Daughter of the late Andrew J. Summers, Jr. and Viola Juanita Summers. Beloved sister of Deborah Radcliff, Lois (Donnie) Duncan, Janice (Robert, Jr.) Fields, Maxine James, Andrew Summers III, and the late Emmanuel Summers and Eunice Summers. Niece of Velma Miller Davis and Eva Summers Flowers. Sister-in-law of Carolyn Summers, James Davis, Horace Davis III, Joyce Cotton, Janet Certain, and the late Andre Radcliff, Dwight Joseph, and Clifton James. Viola is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Asbury United Methodist Church and all neighboring churches; members of L. B. Landry Class of 1967 are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe Street, Gretna, LA on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Rev. Emily L. Carroll, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the parlor.
