EDRIC SMITH ALEXANDER

Edric Smith Alexander departed this life at her residence on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the age of 76. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA. Edric was a proud 1967 graduate of Joseph S. Clark High School and Delgado Community College, where she earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. She was gainfully employed for 21 years at Southern Baptist Hospital and later with Harrah Casino from which she retired after many years of dedicated service. Edric was also an avid supporter of the Animal and Humane Society, Veterans, Toys for Tots, and St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Her favorite pastimes were reading classic literature, watching crime shows, coloring, listening to all genres of music from the 50’s to R&B, and collecting coins, stamps and dolls. Beloved wife of the late Sam Alexander, Jr. Loving mother of Rachel E. Smith, Kevin G. Smith, Samantha A. Alexander, and Dwayne C. Smith. Devoted grandmother of Jacques, Jasmine, and Jessica Alexander. Daughter of the late Thomas Smith and Lucille Dixon. Sister of Edmarie, Janice, and Thomas (Gwen); also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the parlor.
