Violet Mae Bear, aged 88, of
Willards, Maryland, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 14, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Harold Bucher and Ruth (Horst) Bucher. She was known for her servant's heart and her unwavering commitment to her family and community.
Violet was a devoted member of the Salisbury Mennonite Church, where she actively participated in various church activities and served her community with grace and kindness. A talented cook, she will be fondly remembered for her delicious homemade "maple twist rolls" and chocolate chip cookies, which brought joy to many and filled the homes of her loved ones with warmth.
Violet is survived by her children, who cherished her deeply, Phyllis Hertzler and husband, Dave, of Chihuahua, Mexico, Phillip Bear and wife, Connie of Parsonsburg, Maryland, David Bear and wife, Hope of
Willards, Maryland, Steven Bear and wife, Debra of Chuckey, Tennesee, Karen Mast and husband, Tim of Delmar, Maryland, Jerald Bear and wife, Phyllis of Millersburg, Ohio, Jonathan Bear and wife, Joanna of Delmar, Maryland;
53 grandchildren; 60 great grandchildren; three sisters and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her dear husband of over 60 years, William Gabriel Bear; a brother; a sister; a granddaughter, and several great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Delmarva Evangelistic Church, 408 Gordy Road, Salisbury, Maryland, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Salisbury Mennonite Church Cemetery.
