Virgil Dean Perrigo, known affectionately as "Dean," passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, in Mason, Ohio. Born on September 28, 1933, in Plevna, Missouri, Dean lived a life rich in love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family.

A true jack of all trades, Dean spent his career working with his hands, beginning by repairing and maintaining industrial equipment. His skills were so refined that he later transitioned into selling the very equipment he once repaired. There was little that Dean could not mend or create. From finishing the basements of his families' homes to pouring concrete sidewalks, building a backyard barn, and tending to his favorite flowers, he demonstrated a remarkable talent for turning dreams into reality—always completing projects on his own, without the need to hire help.

Dean’s personality was as laid back as his approach to life. He took each moment as it came, always finding joy in the simple pleasures. His happiness was further amplified when he was in the presence of his beloved wife, Mary Jo. Together, they celebrated 71 years of marriage, a testament to the deep love and commitment they shared.

In addition to his many talents, Dean proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, a chapter of his life that highlighted his sense of duty and courage.

He was a devoted family man, cherishing his role as a husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Joan (nee Hawkins) Perrigo; his sons, Jeff Perrigo and Doug (Lynn) Perrigo; and his grandsons, Kyle (Emily) Perrigo and Bryce Perrigo. Dean’s pride for his grandchildren was immeasurable, and he never hesitated to express his affection for them.

Loved ones who preceded him in death include his parents, Hazlett Virgil and Hazel Irene (nee Gibbs) Perrigo and his stepfather Vernon Smoot.

A visitation will be held on May 29, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM, followed by a funeral service from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Stone Center at Christian Village of Mason, located at 411 Western Row Road, Mason, OH 45040.

If desired, memorial donations may be directed to American Diabetes Association.

Dean’s legacy of love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be profoundly missed, but fondly remembered for his kindness, humor, and the many ways in which he touched the lives of others.
