Massena: Virginia A. Charland, age 93, of Norfolk, NY passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at UVM in Burlington after a short illness. Virginia was born in Brasher Falls, NY, in 1932, to Leonard and Cora (Lalone) Shorette. She was predeceased by her first husband James A. Beckstead in 1980, and her brother Bernard Shorette in 1992. She is survived by her current husband Maurice "Joseph" Charland, her sons; James, Thomas, and Paul Beckstead, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, along with her stepchildren; Charles "Chuck", Randy, Gary and Todd Charland, along with many nieces and nephews. Virginia was a devout member of the Catholic faith who had a great fondness for her God and his angels. She devoted some of her time every day to say her rosary and prayers for her and her loved ones. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her family and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them and spent time every day on the phone with various members of her family that she could not see in person. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed hosting many events for her family and friends. She will be missed by her family and friends and will live on as their guardian angel forever.

Friends and family may be received on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena, NY.
