Virginia Mae Curry, born on October 14, 1932, in Madison, West Virginia, peacefully departed this life on May 31, 2024, in Newport News, Virginia, at the age of 91.
Virginia dedicated many years of her life working diligently as a cafeteria worker for Newport News Public Schools, where her warm smile and kind demeanor touched countless lives. Her true passion, however, was her family. A loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and precious family member, she was cherished by all who knew her.
Her love for cooking and baking was legendary within the family, and she delighted in preparing meals that brought everyone together. She also had an exceptional talent for creating stuffed dolls and animals, each one uniquely crafted with love and care. Virginia will be fondly remember by her family and friends for her distinct baby voices that she would give to all new born babies that she came into contact with.
A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Virginia's faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing comfort to those around her.
Virginia is preceded in death by her devoted loving husband, Claude D. Curry; her parents, Charles E. Price and Maude L. Smoot-Price; and her siblings, brothers Thurmond, Lloyd, Homer, Luther, Albert, and Richard, and sisters Hannah, Laurine, Lena, Lucilie, and Ruth.
She is survived by her six sons: Glenn D. Curry (Wendy) and (Kikue), William F. Curry (Jennifer), Arthur L. Curry (Christina), Charles M. Curry (Kendra), Daryl E. Curry (Veronica), and Ronald J. Curry (Sandra). Virginia's legacy also includes her beloved grandchildren: Elijah, Kevin, Monika, Arthur Jr., Shelby, Jorden, and Brandon, as well as her cherished great-grandchildren: Danovion, Jakwon, Daeja, Amaiya, Jaxsen, Amariah, and Dorothy.
Virginia Mae Curry's memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her unwavering love, creative spirit, and gentle presence will be deeply missed.
