Obituary
Ms. Virginia T. Edlow, 100, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Colonial Heights Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Colonial Heights, VA. She was born the daughter of the late Jeffrey and Virginia Wallace Tolliver. She was a lifelong resident of Newport News, Virginia.
Ms. Edlow was a long-time member of Colossian Baptist Church and treasured her time singing with the Sanctuary Choir. She was also a long-time member of the Golden Rule Chapter #66 Prince Hall Affiliation of Virginia.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius R. Edlow, Sr.; three sons, Cornelius "Casey/Pete" R. Edlow, Jr., Carl R. Edlow, and Michael "Butch" J. Edlow; two granddaughters, Kelly Jones and Catina Edlow; and a great-grandson, Dejuan Edlow.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories nine grandchildren, Ramona Edlow, Kim Edlow, Janet Pollard (Johnnie), Lynette Harris (Bruce), James Edlow, Juan Edlow, Don Edlow, Rodney "Peanut" Jarvis (Maria), and Kelvin Jones (Turron); thirty-three great-grandchildren; thirty-three great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Marian Edlow (Carl); sister-in-law, Elsie Edlow; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2022, at Colossian Baptist Church with Pastor Peter A. Evans officiating. Live stream will be available at the beginning of the service. Interment with Eastern Star Rites to follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Ms. Edlow may be viewed on friday beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the church. Facial coverings are required for all services.
