Virginia Rose "Jenny" Evans, 65, of Fort Ashby Road, Keyser, WV, died Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at her residence while under the care of WVU Medicine Hospice.
Born on August 14, 1959 in Grafton, WV, she was a daughter of the late Luther J. and Icie Lee (Wilson) Helmick.
Mrs. Evans was formerly employed as a cook at the Van Myra Inn in Burlington, WV, Pilgrim's Pride in Moorefield, WV and as an in-home care provider for the elderly. She attended Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Assembly in Keyser and enjoyed fishing and sewing. Her family was the center of her life, and she greatly loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who in turn loved her with all their hearts.
Surviving is her husband of 30 years, Herman O. Evans; her children, Rosetta Ellifritz and husband Edward of New Creek, WV, Edy Wolfe of Elkins, WV, Jeremy Kenney and wife Ashley of Virginia, Rebecca Evans of Keyser, Laura Loving and husband Shawn of Richmond, VA and Herman Evans, Jr, and girlfriend Clisa of Romney, WV; her grandson, who she helped to raise, Hank Ellifritz; 20 other grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Also surviving are two brothers, Randy Helmick and girl friend Gail of Moatsville, WV and Danny Helmick of Fort Ashby, WV; two sisters, Judy Dolly and husband Roll of Keyser and Kim Summers and fiance Danny of Belington, WV and two special nieces and a nephew that she helped to raise, Crystal Helmick, Barbara Robinson and Randall Helmick.
Friends will be received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 2-6 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tim Bittinger officiating.
Interment will be in the Knobley Memorial Gardens, New Creek, WV.
