Virginia Almira Stringer Faries, age 82, passed into the arms of Jesus on June 4, 2025, in Mississippi after a prolonged illness.
Virginia was born in Lufkin, Texas on January 25, 1943, to P.P. and Queen Esther Stringer. Music was a very important part of her life and as a young girl, she began piano lessons and spent many hours practicing. By the age of 14, she was playing piano and organ for local churches and giving piano lessons.
She attended The University of Texas and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in piano and organ. During her time there, she met her husband, Eldon Faries in a Sunday School class. They were married in a double wedding with Virginia's sister, Paulette and her husband Paul Broyles on August 15, 1964.
Eldon and Virginia moved to Bloomington, Indiana where she completed a Master of Music Education. Later she began teaching music and choir in the Bloomington School District to elementary and middle school students.
Eldon and Virginia were youth and music directors at their church, First Assembly of God, Bloomington and were blessed to make lifelong friends there. Their two children, Diana Gayle and Dwane Keith, were born while they lived in Indiana.
In 1979, they moved to Spring, Texas to be close to family and Virginia taught music at Kaiser Elementary for 24 years. She sang in the choir at Champion Forest Baptist Church and later became the beloved choir director at Spring Cypress Presbyterian Church. She taught piano to many of the children who attended the church there.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Eldon Dwane Faries, parents Pershing Paul Stringer and Queen Esther McCall Stringer, and her parents-in-law, Joseph Allen Faries and Lucile Ludden Faries; brother-in-law, Paul James Broyles, II, and her sister-in-law, Judi Dubber Faries.
