Virginia Kay Gleaton passed away peacefully at her residence in Weatherford, Texas at the age of 82 on June 16th, 2025. Virginia, also known as GranGinger and Aunt Ginger, was born on May 23, 1943, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Virginia's biological father lost his life in a training mission with the Royal Canadian Air Force when she was several weeks old. Virginia was raised by her mother, Kathleen and adoptive father, Howell Cobb. She graduated from Comanche High School and then earned a degree in Education at the University of North Texas. Virginia was a public school teacher for much of her adult life. She was a stay at home mom in the years that she was not teaching, raising her two children, Elizabeth and Marcus. She was a great mom, an amazing cook and could needlepoint just about anything. Virginia was a great host for family holidays and she had a house full of Christmas decorations each year. She loved to mow on Bob Dudley's zero turn lawn mower. She would run over the grass and anything else that was in her way, then Bob would be left to fix the mess, which he did so graciously every time. Virginia was a great teacher and really enjoyed helping the kids who needed it most. Her greatest joy in life came from serving as GranGinger to Jaxon, Josh and Jillian, as well as, Aunt Ginger to Kathleen and Maggie Cobb. She would let all of them eat popcorn and candy in bed while watching classic children's movies. Virginia was always present when Elizabeth or Marcus participated in sports, school functions or other extracurricular activities. One summer, she bravely set out to drive Marcus several thousand miles to junior golf tournaments in California, Florida, Alabama and Illinois. She drove the whole way and never complained once, except for the in-car fighting between Marcus and Elizabeth. Virginia was always available to watch her grandchildren without hesitation when they were little. When they reached the age of playing youth sports, she attended every event possible. She cherished her trips with Jillian to Casa Mañana and McKinleys. Virginia was one of the most selfless people you will ever meet. She never mentioned having something planned for herself or wanting to do something else when asked to help. Virginia loved her giraffes, her cokes, and her "cup of coffee and a piece of pie".

Virginia was preceded in death by her father, Howell Cobb and her mother, Kathleen Leach Cobb.

She is survived by her son, Marcus and wife, Shannon Gleaton of Brock, her daughter, Elizabeth Gleaton of Weatherford, her brother, Robert Cobb and wife, Dawn of Comanche, grandsons Jaxon and Josh Gleaton, granddaughter Jillian Gleaton, niece Kathleen Cobb, niece Maggie Chapman and husband, Jon, niece Jennifer Rightmer, and husband Clay, niece Julie Zavala, nephew Wade Howard and wife, Karen, and nephew Jeff Howard.
